Bullets from the Bible 04-21-17

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 says, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, [10] Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. [11] And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

These verses are here to remind them to live right.  God does not accept or tolerate ungodly living.  As such…it is sometimes difficult to see how one could ever be a part of His Kingdom.  Are not we all sinners (Rom 3:23)?  And while our society views some sins as worse than others the reality is that sin is sin.  He tells these Christians that they once were disobedient and lived just like the ungodly.  So what is the difference?  Christians are not sinless…but forgiven.  Christians are not perfect…but are “washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus”.  The blood of Christ is there to forgive sin.  The church is there to help sinners get to heaven.  It is o.k. if you WERE ungodly…because all were at one point.  The question is…are you still living an ungodly life or are you forgiven and living right?
